Helping SA would like to express our gratitude to each and every one o=
f you who supported our projects in 2023. It was a difficult year, but=
 thanks to amazing people like you, we were able to provide monthly fo=
od parcels to an incredible number of the elderly and families with ch=
ildren.=20

Helping SA - Christmas drive for needy children and forgotten elderly

As we move into the festive season, we will have a Christmas drive for=
 the forgotten elderly and families with children. In previous years, =
we would include in this drive various small Christmas parties in diff=
erent areas and communities for the destitute children, the elderly, a=
nd mentally disabled adults who have suffered dramatically through the=
 year already, but unfortunately, with recent economic challenges in o=
ur country, our request from the elderly and families for food has inc=
reased 10-fold, and we feel that the best way we can make an impact th=
at counts is to not have the parties but to put in all our effort in k=
eeping as many tummies full as possible. This is very disappointing an=
d sad to us, but it=E2=80=99s imperative to keep our elderly healthy a=
nd our children fed to grow, be strong, and become more than what this=
 harsh world intended for them.



The families will have a proper meal on Christmas day, and we will als=
o be providing the families with more food parcels during this time. A=
 lot of children relied on the lunch they would receive at school, and=
 with the school holidays, this will not be available to them for over=
 a month. Can you imagine an 8-year-old now hungrier than before over =
a time period that should be filled with happiness and joy? Not only d=
o they have nothing to look forward to on Christmas day or any day dur=
ing this lengthy time, but now being extra hungry on top of it?



And this is where we need to come in and assist, making a difference i=
n the lives of many. The parents only receive a grant of R510 per chil=
d per month, and if they are approved, how do you provide for your chi=
ld? These families are victims of unfortunate events; they do not want=
 to be in this position. We only assist where the parents are willing =
to work; we do not assist where our and your assistance are not met ha=
lf way. This way, we know that your contribution is well used to make =
an impact and does not go to waste. We have found that providing adequ=
ate food parcels results in fewer children roaming the streets during =
this time, begging and searching for food.


There's nothing sadder in this world than to awaken on Christmas morni=
ng, knowing Santa did not visit you once again and that the feast to l=
ook forward to will be the same as always, bread or nothing at all.
This drive also includes collecting Christmas presents for children fr=
om destitute families for Christmas day, where the parents will give t=
hem to the children so that the family together can have Christmas. Ou=
r aim here is to make children happy but not to take that joy away fro=
m their parents and a family day.



Just as the children are very important with this drive, so is the eld=
erly, as we feel they are the most vulnerable and forgotten. This driv=
e is aimed at providing as many food parcels as possible and a proper =
meal on Christmas day.

Christmas... Is not an eternal event at all, but a piece of a child's =
memory, they will always carry in their heart.

Last year we were able to fill most of the children's Christmas wishes=
, please help us to fill the wishes again this year, the gift and Chri=
stmas meal you are sponsoring might be the only gift they will receive=
 this year.

These children have already missed the chance this year to receive a c=
ake or a gift on their birthday. Let's not make them miss out on Chris=
tmas as well. We can make it possible to give them smiles again.=20
Again, like last year we asked the children for their Christmas wishes=
, this is some of their answers:

These children have Christmas wishes for the well-being of their famil=

dolls; they are wishing for a change, for a better life.



YOU CAN MAKE THIS A CHRISTMAS TO REMEMBER. As all of us are starting t=
o make plans for the festive season that is upon us to spend time with=
 our families, these children have nothing to look forward to, not a C=
hristmas meal or present, and they will have little or even no food du=
ring the festive season, but with your assistance, we can change this =
and give them something to look forward to. There are so many children=
 who go to bed hungry and ask themselves "Why me, what have I done", I=
t is difficult for children to keep their faith strong and to keep on =
trying. We have the power to change this by showing them a little bit =
of love and understanding. There is a candle burning in every soul, an=
d we need to keep that candle burning.

Providing basic food parcels for the elderly and families is costly, a=
nd we need sponsors. Without your assistance, none of this would be po=
ssible.

Please keep in mind that any donation given to one of our initiatives,=
 including this one, is eligible for a tax deduction, as we do provide=
 you with a section 18A receipt.

We understand we are currently facing tumultuous times, and therefore =
we know how difficult it is for so many people. We especially feel the=
 impact of it greatly and ask that if you are by any means in a positi=
on to assist this project, no matter how small you may think it is, to=
 us it=E2=80=99s huge.=20

In addition to our feeding project, we were able to distribute 7250 bl=
ankets, 380 school uniforms, 249 school packs, 846 sets of winter clot=
hing and shoes, and 216 elderly immune booster packs through our vario=
us drives. None of these things would have been possible without the p=
ublic's help. It=E2=80=99s because of the generosity of people like yo=
u that we can do anything at all. For this, we thank you and greatly a=
